It is recommended to crochet a mesh for irish lace from a separate skein of yarn. But sometimes I cheat and use the motif left-over yarn to fill small areas between motives. This is happening when there is no thinner yarn of the same color available. In this case I leave extra long "tails" - 20-30 cm, and use them for both sewing elements together and crocheting a mesh. This way the collar and a dress were grounded
When you use this "cheat" methode, you have to evaluate the motif layout, so that it is easy for you to fill small areas and leaving a way to work from a skein for other spaces.
